The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states; Chimneys, fireplaces and vents SHALL be inspected at least once a year in accordance with the requirements of section 14.2 (Level 1, 2, 3). Section 13.2.1 further states that Cleaning, maintenance and repairs SHALL be done if necessary.
